Here’s a wild nugget: In early drafts of the show, the Duffer Brothers actually planned to kill Will at the end of Season 1. They changed their minds because they loved Noah Schnapp’s audition. That means Will has been living on borrowed time for four seasons. He’s basically a cat that used up eight of its nine lives before the main credits roll.
Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 4 Review: Accepting Himself Freed Will
But here’s the twist: Maya Hawke, who plays Robin, casually said the Season 5 script made her "sob." She didn’t specify why. Could be a death, could be a happy wedding. But if Will bites the dust, expect the fandom to stage a massive protest involving Eggos and tear-stained Dungeons & Dragons character sheets.
My Final, Probably Wrong, Prediction
Put down your twinkie and listen: Will won’t die. He’ll be a ghost? Maybe. More likely, he’ll lose his powers or become some weird gatekeeper to the Upside Down. He’s been the walking lost-and-found box; the show needs him to live to prove that trauma isn’t always fatal.
But if he does die? It will be a sacrifice play. He’ll shove a demogorgon into a portal and shout, "Close the gate!" while crying. It will be dramatic. We will all need therapy. And then we’ll blame the Duffer Brothers on Twitter for the next decade.
So, will Will die? Probably not. But grab your tissues anyway. Because Stranger Things Season 5 is going to be a wild, emotional rollercoaster, and I have a feeling we’ll all be the ones who need saving by the end.
