So, the next time you hear a political speech with a hidden beat, don’t roll your eyes. Instead, ask yourself: what’s the soundtrack to my own life? Are you rushing through your morning without a score? Maybe you need a calm piano riff to make your coffee taste better. Or perhaps you need a driving synth line to power through your inbox. The music we choose is never neutral. It frames how we see ourselves and how others see us.
And here’s the real takeaway: you don’t need a podium to curate your own atmosphere. Put on a movie score while you cook dinner. Play a gentle drone while you read. Let yourself be the main character of your own day. Because if a prime minister can borrow from a Minecraft soundtrack to sound more human, maybe you can, too. The song isn’t the message—it’s the silence the music breaks, allowing the message to land.
So today, when you hear that clip again, don’t just wonder why the music was playing. Wonder what you want your own background score to say. Go ahead. Press play.
