Let’s be real: a cut onion is not immortal. In the fridge, wrapped well, you’re looking at 3–7 days. The jar method pushes it to 7–10 days, but after that, even the best onion starts to look tired.
If it gets slimy or smells funky (in a bad way, not the normal “onion” way), toss it. Don’t be a hero. Your stir-fry deserves fresh, not frightening.
And please, don’t taste a questionable onion to check. I did that once. I’m still recovering my dignity.
