The real magic is the time it gives you back. You land in the city centre, not in a field miles away. You can be home in Stratford, Bethnal Green, or even central London within thirty minutes of touching down. It’s a transport miracle disguised as an airport.
And on the way back, you land and see the Thames Barrier glinting below. You realise you’ve just crossed a border and landed in the middle of your own city. It feels like cheating. Like you’ve outsmarted the universe.
So where does London City fly to? Almost anywhere you want to go in Europe, and a few cheeky domestic spots too. But more importantly, it flies you to freedom—a weekend escape, a business trip without the dread, or a spontaneous getaway. It’s the little airport that makes you feel like a grown-up with a secret shortcut.
Now go book that flight. You won’t regret it. Just don’t forget to nod at the banker on the DLR. You’re both in on the same joke.
