Modern TV loves a comeback, but it often feels forced. Not here. Ziva’s return is rooted in character. She’s still a Mossad-trained assassin who can kill you with a paperclip, but she’s also a mother now. That’s right—she has a daughter with Tony DiNozzo. Cue collective aww and also panic.
Her arc is about protecting her family while tying up loose ends with her past. It’s intense, emotional, and surprisingly funny. There’s a scene where she steals a car using a fry cook’s credentials. You’ll laugh, you’ll gasp, you’ll text your NCIS-obsessed friend immediately.
The “Not-Ziva” Failure (Don’t Worry, It’s a Joke)
Remember when the show tried to replace Ziva with Agent Eleanor Bishop in Season 11? No shade to Bishop—she’s great—but it was like swapping a samurai sword for a Swiss Army knife. Ziva’s return makes Bishop’s character even better, because they play off each other perfectly. Bishop is the analytical hacker; Ziva is the lethal whisper. It’s beautiful chaos.
