Imagine this: you’ve got the grill going, a cold drink in hand, and the game is on. That is a good day. But first, you need to know if “today” means an afternoon slugfest or a night game under the lights. If it’s a noon game, you’re probably wearing sunscreen and a t-shirt. If it’s a 7 PM game, you’re grabbing a hoodie and maybe a blanket.
Either way, the time tells you how to pace yourself. Noon games mean breakfast baseball—bacon, eggs, and a double play. Night games mean dinner and a show. Knowing the time isn’t just about logistics; it’s about setting the mood for your whole day. Don’t you want to plan your nap around the seventh inning stretch?
A Little Story from the Stands
Last week, my buddy Mark showed up to the stadium three hours early because he misread an “11 AM” start as “1 PM.” He sat there alone, eating nachos at 10:30 in the morning, looking like a sad cowboy. On the flip side, my cousin Sarah showed up at 7 PM for a game that started at 4. She missed the first three runs and blamed it on “traffic.” Don’t be Mark or Sarah. Be the person who strolls in five minutes before first pitch, perfectly cool and caffeinated.

The secret is simple: the time is your friend. It’s not a test. It’s an invitation to let your brain turn off and your heart root for the home team. And if you miss it? There’s always tomorrow. Baseball is a forgiving sport.
