After Carl dies, the show changes forever. Rick stops being a killer. He starts building bridges. Literally and figuratively. Some fans loved it. Others said the show “jumped the walker.”
Here’s a wild fact: The episode “Honor” was dedicated to a real-life fan. A young boy named Mason who died of cancer. The show used his story to inspire Carl’s final words. Cue the waterworks.
And the timing? Carl dies in the middle of the “All Out War” arc. It’s like the show decided to pull the rug out during the biggest battle. Total chaos. Absolutely maddening.
The Memes, The Tears, The Drama
Carl’s death became a meme machine. People joked that he died because the actor wanted to go to college. Chandler Riggs literally went to Auburn University after. So yes, Carl died so Chandler could get a degree.
Another funny bit? The walker that bit Carl was a random extra. That extra became famous overnight. There’s even a rumor they got a bonus for biting the show’s golden boy.
And the scene where Carl tells Judith to be strong? That moment is now legendary. Parents use it to teach kids about bravery. Or just to make themselves cry on a Tuesday.
