One minute you’re basking in rare sunshine, and the next, a cheeky cloud decides to spritz you like a plant. The campsite handles this with typical British stoicism. You’ll see seasoned caravan veterans calmly wiping down chairs, as if a sudden drizzle is just part of the daily schedule.
There’s a pub on site, which is basically the emergency shelter for weather refugees. Inside, you’ll find fellow campers swapping tales of “the one that got away” and arguing whether the pasty or the fish and chips deserves the crown. The atmosphere is warm, a bit chaotic, and exactly what you need when your socks are damp.
The Coastal Path: Your New Best Friend
The South West Coast Path runs right through the site, which is handy if you fancy a walk that makes you feel like a Victorian explorer—minus the corset and weird hat. You can tromp down to the tiny harbour of Boscastle, where the only traffic jam involves a dozen tourists and a very confused seagull.
I once tried to time my walk to miss the rain, but the Cornish weather gods found it hilarious. I ended up sheltering under a bush with a family of sheep. They gave me a look that said, “Mate, we live here. Get yourself a proper coat.” It was oddly bonding.

Back at the campsite, the facilities are clean enough to eat your breakfast off the floor—though please don’t actually try that. The showers are the kind that make you stand there for an extra five minutes, just enjoying the hot water and the fact that nobody is asking you to find the TV remote.
