Every time you throw away a sprouted potato, you’re tossing a little pocket change. Potatoes are cheap, but they add up. Especially when you buy those cute organic ones for fancy recipes. A lazy person’s guide to fridge potatoes
You don’t need a fancy container. Just wash and dry them first? No. Don’t wash them before fridging—moisture invites rot. Keep them in the original bag, or a loosely closed paper bag. Or just toss them in the crisper drawer with no bag at all. They don’t care. They’re potatoes.
Check them once a week. If you see one going soft, cook it that night. If you see sprouts, cut them off and use the rest. Simple.
