Strapless bras are a gamble for open backs. They usually have a thick back band that will definitely show.
But if your dress has a little fabric in the back—like a keyhole or a low scoop—you can sometimes get away with a strapless bra that has a low-cut back or a U-shaped back. It’s not perfect, but it’s a backup plan.
Personally, I’d rather go with adhesive. Less risk of a wardrobe malfunction when you’re doing your victory dance.
