If you ever get the chance, visit one of these places. Hike across the Columbia Plateau in Oregon and marvel at the lava flows. Drive through the Ozark Plateau and listen to bluegrass music that echoes off the hills. Or just sit on a grassy plain in Kansas and watch a storm roll in—flat land makes the best movie screens for lightning.
Remember, you don’t need to climb a mountain to feel elevated. Sometimes, a large flat raised stretch of land is all you need to lift your spirits—both literally and metaphorically. So go ahead, find a plateau, set up a picnic, and take a deep breath. That flat spot? It’s your stage. And the show is just beginning.
Isn’t it wonderful how the Earth gives us a standing ovation in the form of a flat, raised platform? No drama, no steep cliffs—just a solid, steady place to stand and smile. Next time you’re on a flat stretch, remember: you’re standing on history, geology, and a whole lot of patience. And you know what? You deserve that view.
