The woman who plays Kathy Beale is Gillian Taylforth. She was born on August 14, 1955. Do the math, and you’ll find she’s currently 69 years old as of 2026. Yes, sixty-nine!
I know, right? She’s got some serious Benjamin Button vibes. But let’s dig a little deeper because the age game on TV is always tricky.
Kathy vs. Gillian: The Age Gap
Here’s where it gets juicy. On the show, Kathy Beale was born in 1950. That makes her character 75 years old. So, Gillian is playing a woman about six years older than herself. Fancy footwork, eh?
But honestly? She nails it. You’d never guess the real age because she’s been playing Kathy since she was young. She was only 29 when she first stepped into the Queen Vic. Talk about a long commute.
It’s like she’s been aging in dog years for the character. Except, you know, in reverse. The show’s timeline is a mess—we all know that—but Gillian’s real age is rock solid.
