Now, for the golden ticket: the actress who plays Elaine is Harriet Thorpe. She’s absolutely brilliant, bringing that theatrical charm to Albert Square. Harriet was born on 6th May 1957, which makes her a cool 67 years old as of 2026.
Usually, soap stars are roughly the same age as their characters. So, it’s a safe bet that Elaine Peacock is somewhere between 65 and 70. The show keeps it deliberately vague, probably so she can have a wild love affair without anyone saying, “But you’re 68!”

Let’s be honest: age is just a number in Albert Square. Pat Butcher was ageless, and so is Elaine. She’s like a fine wine—or a dodgy sherry that gets better with age.
Why It Doesn’t Really Matter
Here’s the funny bit: you don’t actually need to know Elaine’s age to love her. She could be 55 or 75, and her energy would still be the same. She’s the woman who can shut down a pub fight with one raised eyebrow and a “Right, that’s enough!”
Her age is a secret weapon, like Phil Mitchell’s anger or Kat Slater’s leopard print. The mystery adds to her legend. Is she old enough to remember the Beatles? Definitely. Old enough to have pulled pints for the Krays? Probably—in her backstory, anyway.
So, when someone asks you, “How old is Elaine Peacock?” you can confidently say, “Old enough to know better, but young enough to cause chaos!” It’s the perfect answer.
