Right now, Lucy Bronze plays for Chelsea in the Women’s Super League. Based on reported contracts and comparisons with other top players, she’s likely earning between £200,000 and £300,000 per year. Do the quick math, and that shakes out to roughly £4,000 to £6,000 a week.
Whoa, right? That’s a solid chunk of change. But let’s be real—for a global superstar who’s won multiple Champions Leagues and World Cups, is that a lot? It’s complicated.
Let’s Compare It to the Men’s Game (Because You Know You Want To)
Here’s where things get wild. A male Premier League star, say a defender of similar stature, can easily earn £200,000 a week. Yeah, a week. Lucy’s annual paycheck? That’s about what a top male player makes in a single week. It’s not a knock on Lucy—it’s a reflection of the massive gap in revenue and sponsorship.
But here’s the cool part: that gap is shrinking. Fast. Ten years ago, her weekly wage might have been a few hundred pounds. Now? She’s comfortably in the six-figure club.
