Don’t just squeeze. Look at the color. Unripe persimmons are pale yellow or greenish. Ripe ones are deep, vibrant orange. Like a sunset.
Check the leaves. The calyx (the green cap) should be dry and brown for a fully ripe Hachiya. For a Fuyu, it should still be fresh-looking if you want crunch. The leaves are your mood ring.
