So, what is it about the lyrics of How Great Thou Art that resonates with us so deeply? Is it the poetic language, the emotional honesty, or something else entirely? For me, it's the way Elvis sings about the awesomeness of nature and the power of faith that really gets me, you know?
I mean, who can't relate to lines like "O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder consider all the worlds thy hands have made"? It's like, yeah, have you ever looked up at the stars on a clear night and felt tiny but connected to something bigger than yourself? That's what this song is all about, and it's beautifully simple.
And then there's the music itself, which is just incredible. The way Elvis's voice soars on the chorus, the swirling orchestration, and that iconic gospel choir – it all comes together to create this electrifying sound that just lifts you up. You can almost imagine being in a packed church with everyone singing along, feeling the spirit of the music, you know?

It's funny, because when you think about it, How Great Thou Art is actually a pretty unlikely hit. I mean, it's a hymn, for starters, and it's not exactly the kind of song you'd expect to find on a rock 'n' roll album. But, as we all know, Elvis was a trailblazer, and he had this amazing ability to take risks and push boundaries in his music.
