If you remember Season 7, there’s that moment in the cave at Dragonstone. Jon shows Daenerys the drawings of the Children of the Forest. She’s all, “So you aren’t a Stark?” And he’s all, “I’m not.” And she touches his face.
We all swooned. But we didn’t know she was touching her nephew’s face. Gross, but also—hello, season finale? That boat sex was super awkward in hindsight.
Jon Snow And Daenerys Targaryen Relationship
Bran—the creepy three-eyed raven—basically drops the truth bomb like a bag of pop-tarts. “He’s not your half-brother. He’s your cousin.” Wait, no. He’s your aunt’s son. Sorry, got tangled. He’s your nephew. Bran’s delivery is pure awkward silence.
Why Does This Matter?
Because Targaryens love keeping it in the family. They married siblings for centuries to “keep the bloodlines pure.” Daenerys is literally the product of that. Her parents were brother and sister. So technically, Jon being her nephew is practically a distant match by Targaryen standards.
But it’s still weird. Super weird. And it’s the whole reason Jon kills her in the finale. Not just because she burned down King’s Landing, but also because, well, “You’re my aunt, Dany.” That’s a dealbreaker even for a dragon queen.
