On Christmas Eve, that paper becomes gold dust. You will see people fighting over a roll that has a faint picture of a robin on it. Do not intervene. Just grab your own and run.
Another quirky gem: They often put the Christmas chocolate on massive clearance on the morning of the 24th. It’s a trap. A beautiful, delicious trap. You’ll buy a whole tub of Quality Street “for the guests” and eat it by 10 AM.

So, when should you go? Aim for 8 AM sharp. That’s the sweet spot. The shelves are still semi-full. The staff haven’t started their “Eve sprint” yet.
Avoid the 11 AM rush. That’s when the panic buyers arrive. They move in packs. They leave no crumbs, or batteries, behind. You will be trapped behind a display of novelty Christmas socks for twenty minutes.
If you go at 2 PM, you are gambling. You might score a random bargain. You might also find only a single pack of dented crackers left. It’s a coin flip.
