Labradors grow fast—they’ll reach adult size around 12-18 months. But giant breeds take longer, so check with your vet. Switching too early can mess with their growth plates.
You’ll know it’s time when your puppy stops stealing socks and starts stealing entire loafs of bread. Usually, the vet will tell you: “Okay, move to adult food.” Or your pup will just give you a look that says, “I’m done being a baby, feed me real food.”
Transition slowly: mix 25% adult food with 75% puppy food for a week, then half-and-half, then 75/25, then full adult. Your pup’s gut will thank you—no explosive exits.
