Here is the best part: no matter what happens, the journey is the prize. The fixtures give us a shared calendar of hope. They give us something to look forward to when the weather is boring and life feels routine.
So, get ready. Learn the squad. Print out that fixture list. Believe a little bit. Because when England steps onto that pitch for their first game, you aren’t just watching a sport. You are joining a massive, hilarious, nerve-wracking family reunion.
And that, my friend, makes life a whole lot more fun. Now go find out when the next game is—your future self will thank you.
