Every can of wet food has a feeding guide. Ignore it a little. Those guides are designed for “average” cats, and your cat is a glorious weirdo. Start with the recommended amount, then adjust by half a spoonful up or down.
Your cat’s waistline is the real guide. If they’re turning into a furry sausage, pull back. If they’re a bony little gymnast, add a bit more. And yes, treats count. They always count.
The Lazy Day Exception
Some days you’re exhausted. Some days you forget to defrost the wet food. It happens. Don’t panic. A single day of just dry kibble won’t ruin your cat’s health. They’ll be dramatic about it, sure. But they’ll survive.
Just add a little extra water to their dry food that day. You’ll feel like a hero without breaking a sweat.
