The final whistle blows, and the current score becomes the final verdict. If they won, you’re a genius. You call your friend who’s a Giants fan and rub it in mercilessly. “Told you,” you say, like you didn’t spend the entire game in a puddle of anxiety. You float through the rest of the day with a smile that makes your co-workers suspicious.
If they lost, you get quiet. You stare at the screen, replaying that one dropped pass in your head. You blame the refs, the weather, the color of the opponent’s uniforms. You say “same old Cowboys” with a sigh that could deflate a tire. Then you eat the rest of the nachos in shame, because emotional eating doesn’t count during a loss.
And then, just like clockwork, you check the score again the next week. You tell yourself this time will be different. It never is. But that’s the beauty of it, right? The current Dallas Cowboys score is just the latest chapter in a very, very long book—one where we all pretend we know how it ends.
So go ahead. Refresh that app. Scream at the TV. Hug your dog. And remember: Whatever the current score says, there’s always next week. (Unless it’s the playoffs. Then, God help us all.)
