Last week, I was at a friend’s barbecue. Someone put on Maroon 5, and another person asked, “Isn’t this the guy from Stranger Things?” The group looked at me. I took a sip of lemonade, smiled, and said, “Nope, that’s Djo. Totally different band.”
I felt like a wizard who just pulled a rabbit out of a hat. Everyone nodded, impressed. We laughed, changed the song, and moved on with our burgers. That’s the power of knowing one silly thing. It makes life a little warmer, a little more connected.
So next time someone asks you, “Was Joe Keery in Maroon 5?” You can confidently say no. Then, if they look disappointed, just recommend Djo’s song “Change.” They’ll thank you later. After all, it’s nice to be the person who gently guides others toward better playlists.
