Not every region is playing nice. Scotland is going its own way (surprise). Their National Entitlement Card will still be paper-based for under-22s because “digital exclusion” is a real concern. Fair point.
Wales is rolling out a “Tap & Travel” smartcard that works with the new UK app but keeps your data private. Apparently, they don’t want Google knowing you ride the 7:14 bus to the job centre every Tuesday. Spooky, right?
And Northern Ireland? They’ve delayed the update until 2027. Typical. They’re probably still arguing about the colour of the bus stop.
