Here’s the secret, the thing we forget as adults: starting over was fun. There was no “save point anxiety.” No “I’ll lose 10 hours of progress.” You just died, saw the “Game Over” screen, and hit “Continue” with a shrug. You were literally living the Back To The Beginning philosophy.
It taught us that failure isn’t a disaster. It’s just a chance to do the first jump better. You’d mess up the same jump seventeen times, and on the eighteenth, you’d land it. That feeling? That was better than any shiny loot box.

The Unskippable Intro Text
You know what I miss? The unskippable story text. “Long ago, in a land far away…” Ten seconds of reading, no voice acting, just your brain making up epic voices. You’d squint at the blocky font, trying to figure out why a wizard stole a crystal. It didn’t matter. You were already in.
Compare that to today. We skip tutorials like they’re bad news. We mash the A button to skip the cutscene. We’ve lost the art of sitting still and letting the pixelated wonder wash over us. We need to get it back.
