You know the type: he’s probably already built a log cabin in his head.
Their dynamic is the heart of the first movie, and here it gets turbocharged. They’ve actually become friends—kind of—which means their bickering has evolved from “I hate you” to “I tolerate your weirdness, but I’m still going to steal your parking spot.” It’s a beautiful, awkward bromance.

Gibson, off-screen controversies aside, is perfect for this role—he oozes that gruff, old-school, “I’ve been to space, you haven’t” energy.
But wait, there’s more. Brad’s dad, Don, is played by the legendary John Lithgow. And if you think Gibson is intense, wait until you meet Don. He’s an over-the-top, sentimental, hyper-affectionate man who cries at Hallmark commercials and insists on group hugs. Imagine your most embarrassing, loving grandpa, but cranked up to eleven.
